The EMBRAPII TecnoGreen Unit is the result of the union of researchers from the Polytechnic School of USP in the various areas of Engineering. PD&I projects have been developed for at least 25 years in partnership with industries from different sectors in order to improve competitiveness. The Unit was created with a core in the LAREX (Laboratory of Waste Recycling and Extraction Treatments) and also counts on the laboratories: CEPEMA (Center for Research and Education in the Environment), NAP.Mining USP, LTM (Laboratory of Treatment of Minerals and Industrial Waste), LMS (Laboratory of Soil Mechanics) and Dempster (Laboratory of Mass Spectrometry).
The LAREX has been operating since 1992 in recycling projects, waste treatment, effluent treatment, biosorption, bioremediation, bioleaching and high temperature extractive chemical processes or in an aqueous medium. Thus, the combination of these laboratories has allowed to develop projects in complex systems involving multidisciplinary teams with a holistic vision.
The focus of the EMBRAPII TecnoGreen Unit is the development of green products and processes, aiming at greater energy efficiency, reduction in the use of raw materials, reduction in use toxic compounds, reduction of environmental impacts, treatment of effluents and solid urban and industrial waste, recycling process and creation of green products. The EMBRAPII TecnoGreen Unit operates in the development of sustainable technologies, which must be present from the conception of the project to its execution, conserve natural resources, reduce environmental impacts, being able to offer all the support in the development of industrial processes and products that favor its sustainability, aiming at the circular economy.
